Notice that no detail is disclosed. The devil is in the detail. To get this deal, QC would have to give some concession to Xiaomi, like further discount. Maybe something like basing the price on whole sale price on top of 65%. If Xiaomi move to internal SOC, there is no way for QC to count the units.

This is actually bad news for QCT. Instead of Xiaomi buying Snapdragon's to put in their phones, they are going to license the modem and incorporate it into their own SOC. This is going to cannibalize the Snapdragon business. Expect a split as QCT will be left to fend for itself. Much the way Qualcomm sold off the handset business in favor of licensing, so will it go for the SOC business.

Why do I get the feeling that SM, JANA and any of the other top officers had no idea this occurred? Seriously, if those people had been involved, this would have been f---ed from the get-go.
