If you know you are on the layoff list and you will be laid off next week, here's a practical way to avoid layoff. Immediately call HR to request emergency FLMA. This will delay your layoff, but you are still on the layoff list. At least you will survive the current layoff for a few month until the next wave hit. Hopefully the market will recover by then.
