They are trying to push out full time faculty any way that they can. Of course workloads will get larger for the same pay. Layoffs will happen as programs get eliminated. There are many discussions about the cash cow culinary. It gets students but doesn't meet gainful employment regulations. Baking and Pastry will be the first to go. Don't be shocked. CECO sold off Le Codon Bleu. Even they saw the writing on the wall.

Do you think there will be layoffs this quarter?

in the past, we had heard about a 40 hour work week for faculty. Are these a part of the changes? And, are there more layoffs coming soon?

You might want to pin them down as to what is an adjunct and what is full time...IN WRITING. They play this game there with full-timers where they try to claim you are just adjunct if they want to get rid of you. Even if you have benefits that only full time employees have, legally that proves nothing as its recessionary. And while they repeat verbally what constitutes a full time instructor, it conveniently is not in black and white. Now is the time to ask them through email or other written documents what exactly is full time. Don't let them pull a fast one on you. You are welcome.

Yes, they are implementing these new guidelines coming from the top. They are calling the day classes segments starting in January. For adjuncts there will be a maximum of 10 segments a year or 2 per quarter. If that class meets twice a week it's considered a 2 segments class. For FT faculty teaching loads aren't clear yet, they will discuss them next week. But if an adjunct needs to be substituted they will ask a FT to fill in for no extra pay.

Adjuncts will also have mandatory office hours per every class they teach. Faculty development hours will be paid at $28.75 but dept meetings will not be paid out, they will be included in the teach assignment pay.

Next week we're supposed to get a phone call in regards to the pay for these classes
