Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

"secret sauce" is long gone

Wf always prided itself about our company culture. Thanks to psychopathic bullies, favoritism and horrible management culture is falling apart. This company is going down fast. Unionize to save what remains or hopefully bought out. Sinking ship is an understatement.

rvf, agree with you on these points. I didn't know tuition was being paid for, do you know what region that is happening in? And yes, the most recent layoff should have happened, but years ago and starting at the TOP. It's too late, and they let go of the wrong people.

I don't necessarily think a Union is the answer. WFM did need to trim a lot of lazy workers, unfortunately it sounds like there are a whole lot of other issues going on in many stores if one is to believe even a small percentage of posts here. WFM Regional and Global if you are really reading this site than please check your Regional Leaders and Store Leaders and get these issues straight. WFM employees understand that the old WFM that you knew and loved is gone, John Mackey owns 2% of the company and is a mere figure head at best. Also, every company has it's own issues so decide if you like your job and want to stay or you need to move on for your own peace of mind. Change is certain, get used to it. I do think the labor has been cut a little too tight and maybe we need to get rid of positions such as Forager and kill gain sharing to bring back labor hours. There are only a few teams getting crazy gainsharing while most get nothing anyway so why not invest in workers instead? Also, why pay tuition to TM's who are only going to use it and leave when they graduate? Another way to possibly give some labor back? The part time program is bad, I get you want to save money on benefits but that is what made you a fortune 100 company with happy TM's. Instead of 60/40 part time it needs to be 60/40 full time. It is already showing in the stores how much part timers are not vested in the job. Of course there are always exceptions but mostly not vested. Oh and sales, how about we go back to basics and sell what WFM is known for instead of toys and shirts and hoodies? All available merchandizing spots are giving to these ridiculously high priced items when it should all be grocery. Stop discontinuing staple items to bring in these fad items that don't sell and have to be spoiled out. A guest wants to buy soy flour from WFM, not a hoodie, $60.00 a pound broccoli cheese bites or $40.00 bottle of olive oil. Promote from within so you have coordinators choosing from a place of knowledge rather than what "sounds cool".
