China just passed a law which came into force in November to make “spreading rumors” online punishable by up to seven years in prison. They are also working on a draft cyber-security law that would require internet companies to restrict online anonymity and report ill-defined “security incidents” to the government. The US will follow suit after firearms have been restricted first. For those that spread rumors on this website, you have been warned!
