Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Overheard today about talks to close SCL site or have major cuts since site is not very beneficial for overall business

Looks other blood bath like we had in BLDR site. Feel sad :(

I am an early Q employee who has since departed. Why do you shame us. You could be very successful too. It will never be at Q but there are other companies out there. Most in the bay area and Seattle. Assuming you are not here on a guest visa, Instead complaining why not change your life.

It would be stupid to close down centers in the bay area, the heart of tech industry... Where it is easy to find the best engr who are in tune with the latest trends... If anything, shutdown more in SD and open/expand further in bay area.

Look around in SD offices, filled with old, outdated fuddy duddies, most of them complacent and scared to take risks in general, a quality that have encroached into their personal and work life... Not good for future and growth of company in a healthy manner. I see employees with single digit employee ID to 3 digits.. Man these are like stone age folks stuck to a place forever.

Unlike in San Diego, people in the bay area don't have to worry about finding a new job

This is utter BS. The SCL site houses CE folks who support the fruit company. Kiss that account goodbye if you close SCL.

Make sense to close, it will be huge cost savings.

I see people traveling from bay area to SD every week ( flight, car, hotel etc.. all unneeded expense ) . Why not ask them to relocate to SD or leave ...and safe good dollars

What is the need for multiple bay area offices in SCL and SJO ? Just means more useless VPs leading each of those offices. Consolidating makes sense in that case especially given current business environment.
