I have learned that we must measure salary in take-home-square-feet of real estate per year. The astonishing $211,000 salary is actually only $123,448 after taxes for a single person. And then the cost of real estate (county-wide average, Santa Clara) is an amazing $654 per square foot ($1300+ in place like Palo Alto). So the Santa Clara salary is only 188 square feet per year in Santa Clara. When I left San Diego my take-home pay was more like 300 square feet per year in Carmel Valley, which is where we owned a 4000 sq. ft. McMansion.

Who the hell look at averages? The top earners in each company will skew the numbers making then useless. Who ever posted this is an idiot. Doubt you're an engineer or a good one at that.
