Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Omar Gay should be fired immediately.

This man has NOT led the region to be profitable, he continues to treat all team members in his vicinity as though they are diseased. As someone who used to be a dishwasher, he does nothing to connect with these workers. He should go back to dishwashing and allow someone competent to take his place.

Remember the email he "accidentally" sent to the entire region that was intended just for stls and above? He compared WFM to s bunch of defunct chains, scaring the crap our of an entire region of people, then realizing his mistake had IT delete the email from outlook. Ha. Smooth move.

Remember the timing of it being right before an earnings call and how he dumped a crap ton of stock? Sneaky!

Thx! It was in a large hotel conference room and everyone was looking around to see which others might be raising their hands. Then there was that moment of wonderment where we all realized that NO ONE was going to bite. Omar (RP) and his buddy Mike H (RVP) looked at us, looked at each other, then looked at us again and Omar said, "Really? No one?" and he kind of slumped and moved on. There was no effort whatsoever to determine WHY over 200 dedicated and otherwise ambitious people, nobody AT ALL was interesting in getting into leadership. The consensus afterward was that this wholesale disinterest was due to the complete misdirection, pandemonium and chaos of our launch about a year earlier, the horrible design of our store with all its bad planning and lousy construction leading to constant electrical, roof and refrigeration issues along with hardly any space for two people to squeeze by let alone carry carts or pull pallets, and the realization that our company's ordering, logistics, scheduling and communication was a circus and "leadership" didn't want to hear about any of it. The Kool Aid had already worn off and no one wanted any more of it.

ET4bbEX-hjt, I laughed right out loud at your comment. OF COURSE no one in their right mind wants to be leadership, it's a straight death sentence for anyone with any integrity. I would have loved to see the look on his arrogant little face.

This dumbass made the decision to open in Jackson Mississippi apparently so he could brag that WFM could be successful anywhere and use the PR that we were helping the community eat right. Right on cue, WFM announced it would be the location of some kind of urban community outreach program. Yes, we were going to make them stop craving grape soda, cheap beer and Cheetos and get them hooked on kale, Starkey Water and organic Cheetos. Great strategy except for the fact that none of it is grounded in reality. Anyway, the store was located around the corner from sketchy pool halls, title pawn businesses, used car lots and second-hand stores because everything in Jackson is around the corner from those types of places. The design was reportedly dreadful with a back of house the size of a postage stamp and backstock in racks above the shelves. More brilliant planning from someone who spends more time flying over the South than actually studying it. And of course, they had big problems recruiting over there because there weren't exactly droves of TMs wanting to kill their careers, say goodbye to arts and culture and relocate from modern cities like Raleigh or Atlanta to return to the 1860s era in Jackson. Fortunately it's worked out because business is so slow they don't need much labor. Another fantastic business decision courtesy of Omar.

He's the airline industry's best friend, probably responsible for half their annual ticket sales and frequent flier program miles. Once he gave a motivational speech at a regional "Vision Day" visit in which he had all these general complaints about store conditions on a prior visit. Everyone left wondering what the hell he was talking about. Left a sour taste in everyone's mouth because the place was ALWAYS absolutely opening day level spectacular every time he came. STL's theory was that he had confused us with another store. At that big meeting he asked "How many of you want to be in leadership someday?" And you know what? NO ONE RAISED A HAND. He looked completely stunned.

He is a complete idiot. He will sink with the ship because no one else would be stupid enough to hire him.

So true. I never knew him to be anything more than a condescending asshole. It's not character assassination, it's his reputation and he's earned it well.

He's very condescending when addressing us lower team members. But I don't know if he's solely responsible for making the region lose money.
