Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qualcomm future, all license no in house silicone.

Everything I see leads me to believe the Q is moving toward a business model where they license their IP but no longer manufacture a chip.

I suspect it will start in March with a large SD layoff, moving all test functions and a few other departments to QIPL, and the announcement of a large IP licensing deal to another chip maker. Then it will be an attrition plan as they sell off or shut down business units and buildings.

Any thoughts?

Nothing new in the pipeline means once the licensing income gives out the party's over. Sell off the buildings and other assets in Chapter 11, and cut the final paychecks. And will the last person to jump off the roof of building W please turn off the lights? QCOM is a green company!

Thats only the temporary remedy. I dont see anything earth shattering coming out of QTL lately for at least the last 5 years. GOOG and FBs of the world are not foolish to keep paying royalties for 10 years old technology. Only matter of time before everything is shuttered in NA similar to Moto
