Had a paycut but nobody asked me if I wanted it! Shame our fearless leaders do not set an example if that is the road they want us to go down.
Baker Hughes already has three pay cut between 2014-2015. We already went to through this reduction in pay.
While lowering your salary may be an attractive alternative for you (as opposed to unemployment), I think it is overall a bad idea. When this is done, it lowers everyone's morale. More people (the good ones) will seek jobs elsewhere. The ones that stay will have lower productivity because they decide they should work on par with the salary. In a small percentage, it may even result in "revenge" like forgetting to do something ultimately damaging the company financially. Especially true for some that are about to jump ship. They made me pay so I'll make them pay. Obviously most people would not do this but it only takes a few. I think that, after a lay off, the ones that remain may actually become more loyal to the company because they feel their contribution has been recognized and may even become more productive. Lowering pay also has a long term effects. It affects 401K contributions, pension benefits (if any) and Social Security benefits in the USA so you are sacrificing way more than you think. For people that live paycheck to paycheck, how do they suddenly fill that gap? It creates more hardship on the family and therefor more stress. By the way, the gormless guy exactly proves this point. That made me laugh by the way so thanks for that. Although isn't "gormless stupid" somewhat superfluous? Not really sure since that is not my native language but I digress. How many people sincerely believe the company should cut their salary because they feel they make too much money for the job they do?
What if they refuse to give me a pay cut? Does that mean I am getting canned? OMG I hope I don't get a raise!
Who comes up with these stupid ideas.your brain must be in your Arse if u want to take a pay cut go flip burgers at Burger King .no wonder mr trump is running for president with u bunch of clowns.

They won't do that in the United State.
Not really, but I have left to go work somewhere else for more money.
I have zero loyalty to a company that wouldn't think twice about marching me out the office with 10 minutes notice...!
I'll take a pay cut and work 32 hour shifts to keep my job through the famine.

Has BHI asked its employees to work for less pay? A better solution would be for upper management to take less pay and bonus in order to help keep lower paying employees.
