BP is being bought by Chevron, well, they call it a merger. It will be one of the biggest O&G mergers ever. Major sweet money is being made in the downturn, and this downturn is no exception here. A lot of synergies (meaning potential to cut cost through layoffs). Leverage infrastructure in GOM deep-water and land.

I don't drink nor smoke and I'm pleased you give me my due respect by calling me sir. But truly speaking, why would you consider getting back back the oil business? Is it your profession or just the money?
please sir id like to know what your drinking or smoking...
Word to the wise... you just got thrown out of one oil company, so don't get back into another.
I already bought BP with my severance check. It wasn't as much as I expected, but it was enough to buy the entire company.
Oh, so it's no longer a rumor because you say it can happen. What a Dick! That's your opinion and you just heard mine.
Who gave you this tip, Jim Cramer? Been a rumor for awhile but if any company can pull a merger with BP it would be XOM. And the exAmoco and exARCO types will be even more SOL than when BP bought them. If they haven't bailed already after Macondo, this would put them over the edge!
Not possible anymore for Chevron to buy a company that large. The timing is not right either.
