what we understand from GOM......GOM has a BU ROM scheduled 1Q2016 with ROM1 in January and ROM2 in February (during Mardi Gras of course). With the recently announced CNAEP ROM we will continue with our scheduled ROM but with some of the ROM2 positions saved for the CNAEP ROM and those left standing get to go into the CNAEP ROM.

While some in GOM are seeing this as a positive because those left standing get another chance, I'm not so sure the odds are improved. Still too many unknowns, like how many jobs each BU will have available and an understanding of how many people will be required to participate.

To answer the question about volunteering to be left standing, yes that is allowed. The manager cannot ask you to do so, it must be initiated by the employee. The ROM severance package last time was minimum of 8 weeks pay, and limit of 1 year pay. Essentially 2 weeks pay for every year of CVX employment. To those close to retirement, it would be a nice bonus to take, rather than retiring. Especially if you are at full points already. But, I do not know anyone in my group that volunteered, because they figured they would get the same package if they applied and got laid off anyways.

Most people do not know this, but it is an open secret at the top. Jay Johnson (AKA JJ) is a special person (NO RETARD JOKES, he is NOT retarded, he is special). You see , an special interest group that started back in the late 60s called the NAARP (now named NAASP) made a case that there were not enough "special" people holding executive positions in major companies. Chevron being a very progressive company jumped at the chance and brought in JJ (as well as others, but I will not name them)

Every now and then after art, they put JJ in a suit and let him things on tv, it is all very sweet and JJ gets to pretend to say important things.

The layoff JJ refers to will not be like the others, no applying for your job. You will simply find out if you have one or not.

The big move in 2016 will be when Chevron centralizes HR through corporate shared services and 60% are ROMed

It is good if they are giving us the option of electing to be left stranded. How true is that? Can you volunteer to give up your job and get a package?

Same here, I've heard there will be no Spring 2016 PDC.

I think it's pretty obvious that it's a ROM for all of North America Upstream. They need some way to slot back in all of the returning expats that the company just spent a fortune developing. I suspect there will be some movement between BUs of people but not much. Since DWEP and SJV are the only ones left that haven't announced significant cuts yet, that's likely where the next bit of information will come from.

HR said you will be able to request to be left standing.

Negative, this will be the first ROMs for DWEP, GOM, etc.. All part of the original. A good way to take a complicated process and turn it up to 11 by moving it from a BU level to CNAP level.

I take it to mean everyone in the U.S. Upstream gets to reapply for their job and if left standing gets to become one of the 6-7k that gets laid off.
