What division of workers were laid off dec21 ? What cities in CA? MY soon was laid off he was happy moving up doing well...
Are these jobs lay off for pipelaying or are they going to be permanently laid off....did all lay receive severence pay? Severence pay means termination.

Christmas is a good time to get laid off. Spend time with your family, bank your severance and start looking for January postings. Couldn't be a better time IMO.

Because it's all about the holy dividend now, folks, and like it or not, the 4th qtr ends at the end of December. Christmas, family, The Chevron Way... nothing else matters now, boys and girls. Just as long as ExCom and their cronies get their EOY bonuses, nothing else matters. in other words, "I got mine, so f*ck all y'all!"

If that rumor is true about letters going out on Dec 21 to more employees, then the management of this company really has no consideration for its employees. "Employees are our most important resource" would be just mere words in a slogan. How heartless is a company that doles out layoff notices to employees so close to Christmas? Is doing this only to meet a goal before the end of a fiscal year that important that the negative message it sends to everyone else is hard to amend later? Come on, Chevron management! If that is the plan, rethink it again.

I've only heard rumors about Dec 21. This is when another wave of good employees will be told they are "left standing".

Surely must be someone who no longer works for Chevron and has no friends there to keep him in the loop. My advise to the OP is to move on and try to find solace in something positive. There are a lot of good folks being laid off for no fault of their own.

Who the hell is this "what do we know?" guy? If he worked for Chevron in an affected unit, or even KNEW someone in an effected unit, he'd have emails or screenshots of what anyone other than the top few people in charge of ROMs know. Is this guy from the media? A fired employee who misses office gossip? Anyone else?
