Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

HR Layoffs

HR should get cut. Does anyone really know what HR does? Hell, they don't even know what they do. They're worthless. They have no impact on getting barrels out of the ground, but if you ask them they talk like they run the place.

I believe you are correct. It was around 1995 when Chevron started allowing domestic partners (queers) who lived together to get company benefits such as subsidized medical coverage. That's when we started losing our conservative values and the social engineering began.

Chevon has too many unqualified people in roles they should not be in. All this began somewhere after 1995 when Chevron went astray and entered into social experiments that ruined it.

HR is over staffed, But I guess you would need to be when you hire inexperienced people or promote people that are not qualified to do their jobs.

We'll see how easy you take it, man, when your time comes to be shafted. I don't want to read of your complaints here on this site. HR and your boss will claim ignorance but you'll know that they are very aware. That's the Chevron Way.

When laid off recently, a week after the CEO informed the company of pending layoffs he stated in a video telecast that Health, Environmental and Safety personnel would not be affected, however, my day came. I asked the HR rep(named withheld) if he had watched the video and he said no...my supervisor appeared not know that occurred either. How sad...HR, if genuine must be there for the employee.... With that being in the past and after reading a few posted comments, I truly feel for the those who are not properly represented. Chevron Mid-Con HR needs to be revamped. Issues with Mid-Con HR were seen before. Many will lose out wondering why....

If anything is learned by the company during these layoffs, the remaining employees better demand a thorough house cleaning of HR, from the corporate HR manager down to the office assistant. Each one of them better be able to sing every line and verse of every HR policy at the drop of a hat. Every last one of them better learn to do their job with respect to every employee. This HR crew we have today is an embarrassment, if not call it an insult to the company and its employees. Let the very last wave of layoffs be in Human Resources. If the HR corporate manager is not laid off, then at least transfer that person to another job and find a fresh face with the proper attitude to take the helm. Don't let this department ever again run amuck.

I found bitter irony during the ROM process meetings, where a group of CVX staff were assembled to learn how to try and keep their jobs. And that class was led by a contractor HR person. Really illustrated clearly, how CVX cares about their "employees".

The HR in our Bu was so immature I don't think they were over 30! They acted like little babies running up and down halls laughing and giggling while lay offs were going on. Its was really sad that they didn't know the impact they were putting on people.

Hey, hey, hey! Stop the hating folks!

Our HR ladies have been the best welcoming hostesses I've ever had! I've busted a nut into at least 40 or 50 of them of them over the years, that I can remember, in several locations around the world. "Marriage savers", is what I call them, and my two kids will one day thank them for keeping me sane. All credit to them, as through their magnificent efforts, they've gone the distance to keep me from divorcing my fat, bitchy, loud, arrogant expat wife on a number of occasions, and they have been pretty quick to go "below the desk" to keep me satisfied.

From Duri to Canary Wharf to Buenos Aries, these ladies continue to go well beyond the call of duty, and I will personally see to it that their careers survive this downturn. My marriage, and my legacy depends on it!

HR is the most important department at not only Chevron, but any company period. You simply cannot hire or fire anybody without the HR business partner.

The original HR model was developed in Germany during the late 30's, when Germany had excess people, it was their HR business partners that found them a new home with great severance packages. That original idea was brought here to corporations not only in the US, but around the world. In fact, the global head of world HR was one of the original HR business partners in Germany in 1943. You see, HR has a lot of old traditions they still practice today!

When you see your HR business partners walking down the hallway, thank them for their service, and the rich history they were founded on

Not sure what group you are in but my HR group was decent. I still got let go, but at least they answered all of my questions as the door hit me on the way out.

That's really sad. All the hot HR chicks,... busted. Fired. Out on their cute little butts. And, on top of THAT, the department stores are going under, at the same time, so,... where's an air-head babe supposed to find WORK?

Chevron HR isn't very good in my department. The corporate HR doesn't really seem to handle much. It seems they're there t fire people without getting sued. A lot of them will be fired though.

HR is little more than a pack of faggots and whores who dress better and appear to have better relationships with management than the rest of us. I believe they're Nihilists, as well.
