Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Round 3 gets the shaft when HR figures out they screwed up on the 60 day notice. WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act)

HR figured out that round 3 would get 2016 vacation added to their layoff package, so they moved the notification up 2 weeks to once again screw the lower salary grades. Round 1 and 2 received their 60 day notice the same week as those told they had a job and those who did not were given their WARN notice and their 60 days started then. This is nothing unusual, as Tiffany Neu always reminds everyone, employees pay grade 21 and above add value, and those below are just support. So for all us in Round 3 who calculated your total dollars if you get laid off need to remove the 2016 vacation from your list (screwed again).

Even if I do get a job after round 3, my opinion of Chevron will never be the same. This style of layoff is very degrading, discriminating (being white is not an advantage) stressful and downright humiliating.

You receive your vacation entitlement for the year on January 1, you don't earn anything on December 31st, and you just need to still be on the payroll in January to get it. I don't know what you mean by earning less if you leave early. Once you received your vacation entitlement on January 1, you will get what you don't use paid out if you leave during that year.

ROM 3 just ended, the affected people will learn their fate next week. ROM 3 involved a large group of non exempt people from many areas. A lot of good people asked to be let go in ROM 3 which says a lot about what the working environment is like. There is also a ROM 4 but the only affected group I'm aware of in that ROM is HR.

I'm not understanding this. I'm in round three and never got a WARN notice. My understanding is if I am left standing, and my last official day on the payroll is after January 1st, I would be entitled to my 2016 vacation. Is that not right? Is there still a six week period where I'm on the payroll after my last day in the office or are you saying that period has been cut or reduced from the other ROMs?

So what makes you think that people in the first and second round didn't have vacation time and the 60 days. Lots of people keep the bulk of their vacation time until the end of the year.
