For laid off employees, SW engineers will do fine, but HW/IC engineers will have a tough time. Except for Intel and QC, all US companies have exited mobile space. Even MediaTek is laying off. There is little demand for RF and modem designers. It will only get worse as more QC engineers join the job market. On SW side, the Social-media bubble will last for a while until venture funds run out.

It's like the dot-com bubble 3.0. I don't know if it will pop like the previous ones, but if it doesn't, I guess it never was a bubble. If you are in EE, things are not so rosy.
