Completely abandoning your principles while desperately grasping at straws is usually not the recipe for a successful business plan.
Well, if we dabble in bad analogies, there is Harrah's, and there was Bill's ( an offshoot of Harrah's, smaller, a lot less glamour) . Bill's folded too. Now if Nordstrom's Rack folded, we'd be seeing a trend. Offshoots from mainstream stores don't perform as well.
We are talking about food here and not clothes. lol. Might as well head to the farmers' market.
I think the concept is more akin to the "Fresh & Easy" chain. We know now though how that turned out, all 3,000 people laid off and the chain leaving the country. I remember 9 years ago when the F&E company heads toured our Trader Joe's to perfect their business model.
"Whole Foods is building a 'Nordstrom Rack' for groceries" Does this even make sense?
