According to my Sr VP, it is not called a layoff, it's now called "Right sizing" so that it sounds politically correct and doesn't offend anyone. Stupid......

Technology Infrastructure has a plan to layoff people in waves until 2017 as they rollout automation and the Common/Shared/Custom model where Custom is <10% of the IT specialized requirements across all lines of business.... Charlotte however, is more immune than other locations. They started denying backfills for attrition in formerly New York based roles and Jacksonville, Florida has no space. Reductions are according to the IT Services Management role labels. If a person is in project management, site support or business management, they are likely to be on the 'hit list'. The recent restructuring announcement will allow them to drastically slash staff in these areas. Everybody in IT needs to be heading for another opportunity as the leadership of this bank does not know how to grow an organic business.

It will happen and they will use the same tactics they have used in the past on everyone seen in comments. This will begin with trickery into doing something wrong followed by attempting to find some type of insignificant violation you have performed. It does not matter what they had told you in the past because they need some reason to make you look like an ass to eliminate you. This is guided by if the manager wants you there or not. Of course there are budgets involved but in a right to work state this is a little drastic for head count elimination. On the executive side they sit the person down and give them a choice on how they would like to move on. Interesting con- games and setup’s. Remember what Lee Iacocca said when he was eliminated by the Ford Company. "I will come back and attempt to put the Ford Company out of business". Lee Iacocca later became the CEO of CHrysler Corp.
