195170 :"Then I'd slash indonesia, canada and send all the Venezuelans back to their country". Hmm, I'd love to send US employees (expats) back in my BU too to the US. Conoco want to cut costs but still keeping US expats like managers, engineers in our BU.It seems .....

'They want the weakest people"? Yeah, right, you moron. Let's see, if you are a supervisor, you want weak people working for you? If you are a manager, you want people who cannot perform? Look again, there were a lot of people let go that should have been canned years ago. Unfortunately the cuts were so deep that some decent people got caught up in it too. Oh, and many of us smart people made a fortune working for this company, volunteered for severance, and got really nice packages to leave. And are/were not management. And was very outspoken throughout my career, even to the point that sometimes I had crossed the line. But all feedback from management was they wanted the feedback and opinions, not just "yes men."

This sight is humor. There is nothing of value posted on here, especially at this late date. Pay attention when you had your departure session with HR, and questions like this were answered before you walked out the door. You have until the end of the year to get your release letter signed and faxed back. They sit on it for the seven day revocation period, and then cut the checks. If you want the money soon, send it back immediately. If you want it to fall into next year's income, then wait until Dec 30 and fax the release back then, and the processing will take long enough to get your money next year. If you are a moron, don't sign it, and settle for four weeks severance rather than 3 weeks per year up to 60 weeks max. Big payout for those long-career employees who chose to volunteer for severance. 14 months of pay. Way to end a great run. Wouldn't have been there so long if the company was the shit you guys say it is.

195518 you are exactly right! They are not making a real effort to change for the better....they just get rid of the people who see through all the BS and call it out as a problem. They want the weak people, the ones who are weak minded who will buy what they are saying. Haha kinda entertaining to sit back and watch. Sad that some good strong people were let go....sure some worthless people were let go too. But really, anyone with a brain could see why those good smart people got the boot!

Conoco is driven from the top down. In order to make philosophical changes to operate more like an independent then management needs to change. So here we are once again after another round of layoffs in the same spot we were after the previous round.....Just kicking the can down the road. Either put the current managers in different BU's or lay them off (my preferred choice) because nothing is ever going to change if it's the same managers running the same groups.

I'd fire all the incompetence in Eagle Ford--anyone from louisiana is not allowed to work for Conoco.

Then I'd slash indonesia, canada and send all the Venezuelans back to their country.

First thing I'd do is to sell all Canadian assets. Then I'd fire all the new grads hired in the last 10 years. Then I'd fire anyone that didn't participate in wild office orgies on sites. Then I'd force everyone to donate 20% of their salary to United Way. Then give Ryan a fat raise and a new jet fleet. Finally, I'd get some popcorn and read all the comments on TheLayoff.com

Efficiency.. Good, skillfull, ethical and hardworker people because they are company assets once the oil price goes up. Get rid off " the trash". Hire employees who can work efficiently, multi tasking, and have strong work ethics. too much office politics in the company now so sometimes they cannot make decision objectives.

To troll or not to troll. Good interview question. 1st thing I would change is the location of the shared services from Bartlesville to Houston to leverage the education and experiences opportunities of Houston not found in Bartlesville. Tulsa or OKC would be good options also. Training for staff is one example with no options for training in Bartlesville.
