Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

If BOA is hurting to the point where they are continuing to lay people off all over the country, how can they still afford to pay employees to do volunteer work (docents etc) at Museums and such in California (Reagan Library)?

Thanks for the comment. I just tell it like I see it. My opinion is like a big fish in a tiny pond. Goes nowhere. I get to release some of my frustration with the company in this manner. I know there is talk of another layoff in 2 days. Don't know if it's across the board or just a few places. Pittsburgh might again be saved. They have been are are being recruited to go out to Addison to train them on the Pittsburgh processes, so they may dodge this bullet. Some of the "chosen ones" are riding on someone's coat tail by getting to fly out there and have the times of their lives paid for by the company. They loved it in Texas. They wanted to stay. So, that tells me they are a party bunch. I must reiterate that it's all being paid for by Bank of America. It's funny because the ones that got to go are just one of those groups that do the back stabbing who cannot be trusted. Not each and every one, but for the most part, the ones who party hardy after work hours. You know, the buddy system. It's all office politics. What a wonderful place to work! Oh, did I just say that? Ok, I lied, but I am NOT one of the backstabbers. I like coming to this site to vent about Bank of America. I can say what I want without worrying if I will be found out. Alas! I would feel the door hit me in the ass on my way out. No mercy. Wow, there I go again with another rant! About time to go so I have to get back to work. Woot woot!

When I started, in Pittsburgh, it was National City. Loved it. Then Merrill Lynch took over. Loved it more. Finally, Bank of America took over and that was what ruined the brand. Bank of America is the absolutely worst place to work. The upper echelon will do whatever it takes to make sure they get what they want even if it means stepping all over people in the process. This then trickles down. Monkey see, monkey do. Granted, we all have to look out for ourselves, but I personally don't intentionally hurt others. The back stabbing is horrific. Two faced managers talk about one another to employees. Gee, I wonder why there is so much distrust among everyone? If you can't trust your managers because if their actions, then who can you trust. Oh, wait, employees that are buddies with the managers......... Can't trust them either. It is a very viscous cycle. No one is ever on the same page. When you go to a manager for help, you get one answer and if that doesn't seem just right to you, then you ask another one and they give you a totally different answer with a different outcome. No wonder the pass|fail is not fair. Get rid of the rating system. It's stupid and makes employees uneasy. People make mistakes, but they don't deserve to be called out on each and every tiny error.

Getting to the original question, with so much left unsaid though.

If there was one thing that I could change, the first would undoutedly be to go back to the old values like those of Merrill Lynch. They knew how to treat employees and cared if you had a problem. They VALUED their employees. Bank of America? NOT SO MUCH.

As an veteran seasoned Underwriter for over 20 yrs , I can no longer make a qualified decision nor be subjective or make a reasonable decision on a long term, solid customer on my own. I now have to present the most ridiculous issues for "waiver" , which seem to all get denied. I would like our risk partners to make those customer calls and explain to them why a good customer is being declined. I totally understand risk analysis as I have been in banking 37 years but now its out of control and good customers are getting the shaft.

Champion a culture that puts focus on building strong, efficient, creative teams. Teams are how companies win. Smaller approval groups. It's lean and generates more innovative results. Eliminate fear. Remember, fear kills creativity. Help people work through fear. This isn't therapy, it's business in 2015. Help people overcome this to both develop them and move the business at hand along. Take a zero tolerance policy around open negative talk. Especially in groups. Negativity is contagious and it's also limiting. Choose the opposite. No meetings without a goal. No goal? Then no meeting necessary.

The fish rots from the head down. Get rid of the top. Stop accepting unethical managers in all bands. Just think of how much the stock would be worth if they stopped trying to screw people, did the right thing and did not need to settle lawsuits.

Go back to prior Countrywide days, when the company had direction and a Sr. Management team that knew how to run the company.
