Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

In A Bind

I've been completely over-worked and disrespected by store leadership over the past month or so. Most of my co-workers have checked out and work at a snail's pace now (I can't really blame them), and I've been trying to keep it all from falling apart. I'd really like to stick it to WFM and just dick around. But......I happen to really like my TL. She just happens to be a very cool person and works very hard out on the floor, she kind of acts like a team member who also has managerial duties. Is there any way to take a stand without quitting or putting more work on my TL?

I stayed and after a ridiculous interviewing process, was given another position at WFM. I should have taken severance and ran. I am now looking for a new job. This company will only go further down the crapper. Things will not get better and hard work is not rewarded. Get out while you can.

trust no one look for another job and while you are there slow down it is not going to do you any good to try to keep up and hurt your self. It is not worth it and they do not give a damn.

Don't bother speaking up about anything, anyone in leadership will not hesitate to cut you down or start looking for reasons to go after you if they feel threatened in any way. It's ridiculous but I've dealt with leadership in the past when suggesting ideas to improve the department and about shit that was going wrong on my team.

I completely agree- honest and hard-working went unrecognized for me, and others. They want folks who suck boners, so they can dangle the carrot as long as they can, and even then you are not promised anything. I saw it first hand. It's total corporate at it's finest, under a "lovefest" facade. By the way, I burned that hideous "love" my ass apron...damn, did it feel good! Move-on.

Do not speak-up, don't take that risk. They may hold it against you, and you don't know at this point if they will offer severance if they do decide you are a bad seed. I found it did not help me, when I spoke respectfully. They would just shrug me off. They just don't care -they want people to follow, and drink the kool-aid. The days of innovation are gone. They are scrambling to be like everyone else now, just so they can keep their heads above water. Unless you are close to getting a promotion, to be able to put it on your future resume, leave. It's a dead-end job, and they will get rid of you for making too much in your position, sooner than later. That is now Wholefoods.

Well, all I can say is this: I also really liked my former TL, and I still do for the most part ( I separated on good terms). But after the shit hit the fan, I learned more than ever, never to trust anyone climbing -up the corporate ladder. Especially those rats in upper management, who will do anything to cling to their jobs. In fact, I would not doubt their bonuses will be bigger than ever this year, due to the fact of all these lay-offs! I too agree - have another job lined-up. It may take you a while, but believe me, they are out there. Dedicate a certain amount of time every week to update your resume and look. There are tons of resources out there that will help with building resumes, etc...

Once you get it going, you will feel motivated. The company is changing for good, it will only get more homogenized, along with it's work-force. Besides, it looks good these days when you build experience in different places of employment. I was there for almost four years, and was told by a professional career builder/head hunter, was a little too long these days. Who would have figured. So go and dip your toes elsewhere. And if you ever get too desperate, you can always go back to the hell-whole with far more wisdom. Leave on good terms, and you can do it !

You r the kind of employee that should be VALULED! My job was eliminated and I am not "disgruntled" but u should look elsewhere. Truthfully I worked with so many TM like that who knew how to work the system I realized I was too good to even work there. Honest and hard-working seems to go unrecogized. I would say speak to your TL but at this point could u trust anyone?

Argh.

I hear you. I can tell you what I learned.

Look for another job regardless. If you get one anywhere, jump ship.

I should have followed my instinct.

Follow your instinct!
