Automatic technology could put oilfield workers out to pasture

In the not-too-distant future, humans in the oilfield workplace could go the way of the horse-and-buggy because of the exponential growth of automatic technology. When we first had the internal combustion engine — the horseless carriages, the car was called — look at all the horses they just put out to pasture. When automatic drilling comes full of age, rig hands and drillers will be no longer needed at the rigsite. The way software, computers, robots are taking over, more oilfield workers are going to be marginalized. Automatic technology is going to be destroying oilfield jobs in a near distant future.

Baba Vanga predicted that by the year 2020, trains will be running on energy charged from the sun; oil extraction will stop and mother Earth will rest.

Yes this is true. In the not too distant future most of the oil field work will be automated on the rig. This will help lower operation costs and reduce HS&E risk. It's not just O&G that will be affected by this though but all industries. Law, Arts, Science, you name it. Watch "Humans Not Need Apply" on Youtube if you want to see future philosophical changes that will happen to our civilization due to robotics and automation.

I my day we had to dig holes with a pick and shovel to get t'oil out. Then I was replaced by a sleepy donkey. Maybe it had been put out to pasture, I dunno

Oh yeah, can't wait to sit at home and drink beer while robots do my job. I'll just get on welfare and enjoy life.
