Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

I'm still here, but should have taken severance. How about you?

I'm still with the company. I went through a ridiculous interview process and now technically I have a new job. This new job is awful. I have triple the work with basically no help. They made marketing positions salaried so in essence we are on call. They don't want to say it's "on call" but I have dumb shit ASTLs texting, calling and emailing me about signage for displays at all hours. I should have taken severance. I am kicking myself for staying. I'm actively looking for a new job.

I'm still here. I thought I would be part of the sacrifice and made my peace but it didn't happen. I figure it will eventually so until then I'll be hoarding my pto, putting away in savings and keeping an eye open for an out. I want to take all I can before I go, so I'd rather set up a few possible lifeboats and wait for the axe. A severance would be nice but I won't plan on getting one just to be safe.

I'm in Southern Pacific. I was told we had until 11/22. I remembered reading something about 11/22 being the cut off to select severance. I don't know if that changes if you selected option 2. It is the salaried position from hell. I have two stores and have been working 80 hours a week. No more PBS at my stores to ask.

199352- you got it, it's been wonderful to realize that I can enjoy the Holidays for the first time in years. I used to be so burnt out by the time Christmas came around that I pretty much slept through it. I didn't have the energy or spirit to even put up a tree, for two years! I totally understand 199344, when I saw that the Marketing Metro was salaried, my first thought was " that's NO deal, no overtime, travel time, responsible for marketing in 2-3 stores? I figured that if it were hourly the Marketer would be making less than $15/hr. for twice the amount of work. You gave until TOMORROW to take the severance. The 8 week notice pay was up until this Sunday. Ask your PBS if you still have one.

I'm really sorry to hear about your new job. I took severance and here's what it looks like tonight: I'm sitting on my couch, having a great conversation with my husband. I'm looking forward to having time to actually make food for thanksgiving, and am already making little gifts to give to my niece and nephew this christmas. Having time to spend with them without scheduling it around retail will be so nice. First time in over a decade, and I remember when I used to work there how much of a luxury and unthinkable it was to ask for time off around the holidays. I do love the people who have stayed and didn't take the severance, but I do wonder why they made their decision to stay. This company is now clearly abusing people who remain to work there. I don't have an answer, except to leave.
