Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Thank you to all posters for their contributions

Thank you everyone for your contributions on these boards. The name calling, backstabbing, people reveling in others losing their jobs - its all been a great example of the Chevron Way. The pettiness and immaturity demonstrated on this board has really helped show everyone what Chevron is all about. The culture that has infested the organization and led to this huge fall from grace has been amply illustrated on this board. Thank you and, remember, you are the people most admired.

Anonymous200441 if you come back as a contractor you should get considerably more than what you made as an employee. Contractors are the first to be let go so that is an extra risk that deserves a premium.

This ROM (aka waste of time for many) sadly didn't worked well. Chevron kept many of those who needed to be gone and those who left shouldn't.

Cutting deadwood is easy to say but not an easy exercise to do. Too many are hidden and unexposed in the system and it will take an enormous effort to identify and weed them out. Current ROM's haven't really tackled this effectively.

Well, You're certainly welcome, sweetheart!! I appreciate the disclosure of the useless bums on here bragging about doing nothing all day, taking 2 hour long dumps and goofing off online with candy crush and things. When I read that, I am assured that cutting all this dead wood has been neglected for much too long and is the best decision Chevron has ever made!!!

Always there are people that can't understand others' worries. Be free to read, maybe it could help you in the future when you are out of business.

I received a full year severance check when I volunteered to leave. My department manager promised me I could return to my old job once this mess blew over in about 1 year. I agreed to return and work on a contract basis only. I will be paid the same or a bit more.

I agree with Anonymous200349. Employees having just lost their jobs are venting to release their pain and trauma. It's a totally natural reaction, as more than a few good people got thrown under the bus, all for the sake of continuing to pay that quarterly dividend. For Chevron, "Employees" are NOT really our most important asset.

You must still have your job to not understand the pain and trauma of these people who are venting here from job loss.

Mostly a comical read, however, do appreciate some of the revealing posts every now and then that provide clarity through the opaque and silent curtain called open communication. It's about maintaining a great public image at the expense of increasing employee anxiety and uncertainty. Potentially a ploy to make them work harder but probably creates misfits who try to scam system and create false value.
