Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Can anyone confirm that they're getting rid of the floral dept?

Sw region here. I've heard that other stores in other regions don't have a real floral dept with trained florists, they just have one small display of flowers that someone in produce sets up (similar to what you'd see at a Walmart). Wfm keeps doing things that don't make any sense unless you look at it in the context of phasing out floral.. First they realigned vases to whole body, then they forbade us from ordering several essential tools and supplies, then they axed the floral specialist position, now they are trying to dramatically cut back on our labor and staff. I'm wondering if I should call the brides I have scheduled in January and beyond and warn them that there might not be anyone at wf to do their wedding flowers.

I am a florist, and a good one, I just happen to work at whole foods because they pay better than any flower shops where I live. Seems like wf is squeezing me out the door lately, maybe it's time to look into freelancing...

SO region here. Floral continues to be part of produce, but they have eliminated the floral specialist position from the stores. So when customers want floral arrangements, it's a produce team member who has to make it.

Tell that bride that the flowers will be ready just in time for her funeral! LOL If you want flowers, better see a florist.

Greed won't allow them to do that they will just grind the ones left into the ground if you let them. Also, if you are a bride I would not count on WF to do your wedding flowers.

Customer Service would definitely NOT be able to handle floral. But then again, this company doesn't always make smart choices

MW region. Floral buyers still around here. Only rumor we heard several months ago was that floral might move from produce to the customer service team.

NorCal here, I haven't heard anything about the floral dept getting cut out. Whole Foods already started screwing over the floral dept when they stopped buying from local growers and started importing them from other countries because of the Whole Planet Foundation, which resulted in worse quality because of the time and distance transporting the flowers. I'm sure this played a major part in prices rising rapidly.

They actually didn't cut the floral specialist position in my region.
