Anonymous202641 - "I eat Crackers for lunch." --- just head to the top floors of HOU150 or HOU140 during lunch time and leech off the free buffet for the training classes. They always order twice the amount of food needed.

Yes, interns who were told, promised, or offered a job will be hired. This is cheaper than keeping an employee who has 15, 20, 25 years; so interns will replace some of those who were canned by the ROM.

At Chevron, the white male is only one person away from knowing the VP in every business unit . He is already in the Good Old Network, and he will get a job and a promotion no matter what the circumstances are. Diversity may open the door for Asians/Blacks/Hispanics, but at the end of the day, the white man is most likely to get promoted and have the highest pay increases.

Direct to the OP: Run. Run very quickly away from Chevron. Seriously, this is not some contrarian view; Chevron has dropped the pants and the ass is hanging out in too many ways. In an industry in which the risk/reward cycle is often very pronounced, Chevron has focused far too much on the risk part, and not nearly enough on the reward, which will turn out to be relatively minuscule to the shareholders and WS analysts. And, despite several of the previous responses, when that time comes your ethnicity will mean nothing at the end of the day. When it comes down to the nut cutting, the few remaining will very likely be white, male, and proud to be those who were able to project power.

Just bring Fried Rice/Fried Chicken/Refried Beans to the selection process. That should satisfy all the diversity you need.

Asians/Blacks/Hispanics will be given high priority due to Diversity at Chevron. That group will be considered first, then they will fill the other seats with Whites.

yes, we still do hire interns. We need relationships with schools, and hiring an intern at 4k/month does not cost that much at all. but it opens you doors at the campus so you can hit the ground running once we start hiring again (god knows when that is going to be)

Asians are not a minority - the majority of Eng majors are Asian.

If you are white, don't worry. Just check the box next to "Hispanic" (there are white Hispanics, you know) and practice saying "Si Señor". Once you're in the door, feel free to embrace the White diversity.

Yes, Chevron is still hiring interns and new college graduates. When you complete your application, please complete the diversity section. Chevron is really big on diversity, so if you are hispanic, black, asian, etc. This will increase your chance of getting a job at Chevron.

I wouldn't mind getting laid off after 30 years on the job, especially if they would also give me a 1-year bonus of a severance check on the way out. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.

They want to keep the pipeline coming, even if at a trickle, to make sure the company stays ahead of the demographic shift. Plus they're cheap and can be better indoctrinated, so that when they get laid off in 30 years (after still getting their huge salaries and generous packages) they can whine about chevron laying off the old guys for new college hires. The cycle continues....

Remarkably, Chevron is still hiring new college hires as they decimate the workforce of experienced (higher paid) workers. It seems like it would be against the labor laws supporting age discrimination. If not illegal, certainly unethical....
