"to show he is delivering more than any other CEO in history", couldn't agree more. In all recent quarterly calls he kept on repeating how profit margins were so much better than previous downturns, without saying he had achieved that thru mass layoffs. The worse thing is that his actions not only affected Schlumberger employees but also the whole industry as other service companies knew that investors would compare their performance to that of Schlumberger's. This time Schlumberger is the only company in this space that increased dividends, when no investors expecting it, while laying off thousands of employees, how heartless and brutal. Best wishes to all.

At least the French have some laws that protect their workers and they may have a chance. Of course it doesnt matter that the company is still very profitable as Kibsgaard wants more, to show he is delivering more than any other CEO in history and in part to cover up the failure of his transformation strategy. He now needs to show some honesty and remove "people" from being a corporate guiding principal and just leave "profits". I don't think anyone in Schlumberger could possibly believe that anymore.

"It's a lucrative three-masted sailing on a nest egg, Schlumberger!" Song in Clamart Mobilization Wednesday morning to protest against the social plan during the company specializing in exploration and oilfield equipment, in full restructuring.

824 employees, the site must switch to 688: 136 posts will be deleted. 44départs are not replaced, and 92 people could lose their jobs. At the call of unions CFDT, CGT and CGC, a rally was planned before the Paris headquarters, but since the attacks, demonstrations are prohibited on public votes. The strikers decided to be heard there, parading flags in hand in the corridors of the buildings. Walkouts have held since the beginning of the week. "Here we are 80% of executives unaccustomed to this kind of event," says an employee surprised by the extent of mobilization.

Some services are particularly affected: "We are 13 engineers producing positions, there are five that are potentially suppressed protests Thierry. These are skills one acquires over time, highly specific, and although work has decreased because of the oil crisis, the company should keep our know-how for the future! "

Got to the floor of the HRD, the protesters are calling for the memory of "Marcel and Conrad," the two brothers who founded Schlumberger "! If they were still there, they would not understand" The social plan is being since the summer, but the discussions were tense on the starting conditions. "The proposals of management are very far from what we demand," denouncing the unions, who demand compensation beyond the legal minimum and longer duration of the reclassification, 36 months instead of 12, to enable licensees receive training.

"We fight the reasons for the social, without long-term vision, explains Luisa Nicoletti, physicist and representative of the CGT, and the method, the lack of humanity in the treatment of employees. We want people to leave in dignity. " "Management is positioned as if the company was in big trouble when the group made encore1milliard profits per quarter" protests Bouaissi Rashid, the CFDT.

And yet it is the crisis invoked by the group to justify his decision: "This is the most important in the oil industry for the past 30 years, explains the direction, strong and sustained fall in oil prices leads our customers reduce capital and Schlumberger, as a service company, has to adapt to this decrease in activity. " The group has already cut 20,000 jobs worldwide since the beginning of the year.

"In this difficult context, management affirms its willingness to dialogue and its aim to best preserve the skills of Clamart," we are assured at group headquarters. Negotiations must continue this Thursday and until the end of November.
