Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Layoffs

Financial results are dramatically off plan and that can only mean one thing. Get out now if you can and get your vacation payout in full before end of the year. Or wait and see if you can get a package when your job gets eliminated. These are dark days for the company. Sad for those of us that have been around and seen how fast Follett has fallen.

You're not entitled to a severance. They're not afraid of what's in your mouth or what's in your head. They've learned. The students and faculty don't care. They don't consider a leased store as part of their campus community. They see the store for what it is; a profit center for a company in Chicago. If you like the college/university where you work, find a job with them and quit without notice. That is all the power you have.

Unless you want to be "spartacus" and all your co-workers will stand and say. "I'm Spartacus", too, you're hosed. Honestly people, banding together and calling in sick on the same day is the most powerful you'll ever be in this shithole company. Just do it. Take charge of your own life and act out against the dickheads who stole your company, they stole your career and they are counting on you being passive. Organize, share and sick out.

They've already canned a ton of the Neebo suckers, so I would also expect some store closings as they dig through the trash they paid millions for. The CBA stores killed NBC, they'll get Foe-Let as well. They're cursed.

The normal layoff pattern for Follett is November and March. However, with as dismal as results are, it could be in January. Affected depts could include finance, IT, HR - training and planning.

I have been out for a while now. My blood pressure is much lower, quality of life better, current employer values and respects me and I don't have knives being jammed in my back by my inept (and threatened) supervisor. There is a life beyond Follett. Go find it folks!

The sky is falling? The sky already fell over at Follett. The ground beneath is now sinking. I love and miss my friends still there. But life is better elsewhere.

They are focusing on non payroll expenses first such as professional services etc. Then they will work their way down when they don't reach target. Good Grief, don't tell me they're going to take away SS's Google Glasses!!!!!!

Follett has laid off in excess of 2,000 employees over the last two years. There is a history here folks and just look at the numbers. It is not a giant leap. In fact, if senior leadership doesn't react to the numbers, shame on them.

I'm sure their campus partners and the students at these schools will suffer with worse service and certain "margin enhancements." Instead of COPAR, Follett can have WARBDASWNTRP (we are run by dumb asses so we need to raise prices).

Just curious about why SS still has a job... I mean really, going back 40 years...has there been anyone more who promised more and delivered less? I just don't understand what is keeping him in place? It's kind of crazy isn't it? The first meeting I was in he casually bragged about how he was pressuring a vendor to give him a set of Google glasses.....I mean really. This is IT leadership now?
