Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

we can't keep part timers anymore, everyone is quitting

We are required to only hire part time with 24/7 open availability for 4 hour shifts 5 days a week. Who on earth would ever accept that? Gas stations offer better hours.

My team is losing 4 people (including me) before Christmas. I feel bad for the people that are staying, but honestly some of them contributed to the problems and have put us in the position to make us leave. Poor management, inflated egos, zero flexibility, sitting in the office all day while our sales and comps are going right into the toilet. Watching everyone squirm has brought a smile to my face in the past week or two, the slowest Thanksgiving I've seen in my 7 years with the company. Later bitches.

I haven't spoken to one person in my store that even remotely likes their job or management. The reality is that the people hate this company, but I understand that if you are in the "good old boy network", you want to bury your head in the sand for now, and wish for the good old days. This kind of abusive management, and intimidation is what ruined the company. Unfortunately, after ten years I'm convinced it's incapable of changing. The arrogance is unbelievable.

The holiday season is going to be a complete failure, guaranteed.

My dept had two people- one PT, one FT- walk out within the last week. Before this it's been a steady erosion of previously dedicated people. Things are literally falling apart, so I understand now what they meant by 'attrition' in the statement management made about this last mass layoff. Seeing our team weaken though really drives the nails into the coffin. And nope the quitters will not be replaced, at least not before this busiest week of the year for us.

Everyone has the same right to express themselves here. You have outed not a soul as this is an anonymous board. That fact makes us all equal here and in fact makes us all powerless. You and I the same here ...powerless. Just self serving opinions. When the security of being anonymous goes away...the facts will be seen. Not many facts on this board. Just a bunch of powerless ,worthless words from all who post...including me.But my right to post and share my opinion is equal to yours.

@anonymous- it's not the idea but the presentation. If you feel the company is going the right direction, fine. No need to come here and insult us to say so. If, however, you're like us, just watching them hack off well-fuctioning limbs as a show to Wall Street of losing the weight we gained sitting on the couch instead of chasing the competition, then consider coming to our side. Or, if you're just a troll with no affiliation with either side, you've been outed. The gig is up and you may kindly leave. So, which will it be?

You are full of shit if you think most people like their jobs. YOU are the prick and must be stupid if you think what's going on is acceptable.

To the asshole who comes on here and trolls us, go f*** yourself. Know why everybody is so pissed? Because whole foods went right into the shitter. Most do NOT like their job at the hole. My grocery department so understaffed it's ridiculous. I work my ass off all day doing dairy grocery frozen and bulk. There are never enough people and therefore the work doesn't get finished. I leave sore and hurting everyday.

It would be great to get some help from part timers, but they won't hire any.

Can't wait to leave, would have already done so but I've got bills to pay like we all do.

At my location here in the SW, our Grocery Team lost 4 TMS in 3 days. They are fed up! If I could, I would post a picture of their schedule posted on their communication board that reads "schedule is subject to change without notice" it's horrible!! What is going on with our company? I remember having friends and family eagerly asking and hoping we were hiring. Now we are a joke! I'm hoping for more layoffs and severance in January. Please Please Please

That is terrible. It just proves they want to ship them in and out. This company is no longer interested in dedicated and knowledgeable people. And if you give them five day open availability, how the hell is one able to find another PT gig? Students can't even give open availability. And they can't ever even promise hours, week to week, for stability to any PT employee. Wow, this joint is run by total nit wits. Honestly, I'm very grateful I'm out of there...it's looking more clear everyday.

That should be illegal. Seriously. Quality of life means nothing anymore. Those "values" flew out the window real fast once they seriously had to answer to shareholders. A revolving door of disposable college students here we come! Get work out of them, yet don't take any investment. Win, win.

Of course they are quitting! WFM wants blood from the hard working employees, not team members! Because of this website we ALL now know we are NOT ALONE....across the country everyone should not show up on Wednesday! Love to see the priviledged ,high paid decision makers run the turkeys! So much happier not working there. Get another job and just leave. I understand we all need a job but there are others places to work with a stress level that pales compares to what we all went through. I will work in a soup kitchen this Thanksgiving and help people who deserve a good hot meal. WFM take you APPRECIATION BS and stuff the turkey! LOL
