Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

ETC to be hit with another ROM in the first or early second quarter.

There goes 2016 productivity. The 2015 ROM was a massive distraction and time sink. Might not be any point in having ETC if they layoff any more people. We got rid of a lot of low performers in the first ROM but lost quite a few good employees too. And... Quite a bit of low performers that are kiss asses managed to hang around. I imagine it will be mostly kiss asses left after this second ROM. Bring BCG in to do the layoffs and leave middle management out of it. They only play games and make the company more toxic.

OP - what makes you single out ETC? the entire corporation is not designed for a $60 crude....given that logic....now that crude is $35, I guess the entire workforce should disappear... except for the Board of Directors and the CEO... :) who will sacrifice one and all for the holy dividends.......there is a lot of fat to cut elsewhere in several BU's..........IMHO, cut fat in bloated BU's and bring back most of all the expats........that is what 1H and even 2H2016 ROM intends to do.....

"I do the reservoir engineering the BU's fail to do." What a tool!

@3eme, I'm just summing up what Paul Segiele said in the last town hall, that ETC is not properly sized for $60/barrel oil. I'm optimistic your work will be assessed as an essential task for the company and you will still have a job once other functions in ETC are trimmed back some more in 2016.

ETC not essential? I do the reservoir engineering the BU's fail to do. I guess they finally figured that out and that's why the BU cuts are severe.

It's not a stretch of the imagination to know Chevron BUs and departments will be cut again early next year. If ETC headcount is not suited for $60 oil, then with oil prices hovering in the mid to low 30s will tell you that 50% more need to go at ETC. Same thing for HES groups throughout the company. Other workgroups with more essential disciplines will fare much better than others. Good luck to all next year in the game of Musical Chairs.

Paul segiele said in the last town hall that etc is not properly sized for $60/barrel oil. What did oil trade at today? We're going to be cut again. Stop dreaming.

To the respondents asking for a source of the CNAEP rom, there was an email sent by Jay a week ago or so identifying Upstream, looking closely at expats and US BUs. A later email from Jeff noted must-moves, vacant roles, and a percentage of exempt positions. It did note that some BUs already went through a ROM (like ambu) and currently going through one (gom?). This will go to the rest of the US BUs.

Many of the CNAEP BU's (GOM & MCBU) have already announced field sales. Employees will be posting for jobs, via a ROM process, in Q1 2016. The word being used concerning layoffs in these BU's is "severe."

Didn't CNAEP already go through their doom just as ETC did? Why do you think CNAEP will suffer again but ETC won't?

Who is included in CNAEP? Wondering if this will be affecting my husband's job.

Jan/Feb 2016 ROM will be all of CNAEP (NorthAmerica) Upstream, not ETC.

BCG IS GONE!

If there are groups such as Strategic Planning still remaining in ETC with people whom we don't have a clue what they do and what they add to the company, ETC still has a lot of fat to cut. A question BCG should ask / look at a lot more closely is the org chart -- what happened in the last 7 or 8 years, and layoff or trim groups / functions that didn't exist before and whether ETC can do without them now. If the answer is yes, it's a very simple matter.

Yes, Chevron lost lots of good employees in the first round, who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, leaving kiss-asses employees and useless functions / groups left in the company.
