if the good Saudi stuff is low price, then dirty US shale would be lower no? And if most shale plays are unprofitable at these prices, what's not correct in the conclusion that lower prices are the goal to kill US shale? I don't know how easy it is to restart a well when prices go higher, but probably not too easy after a bond default
EU will take them to court for being largest state sponsor of terrorism, causing Syria trouble, and giving Merkel migraines.
@zum is spot on, goal is for the saudis to corner the market. Will EU take them to court as well for using their dominant position to drown their competitors?
lower prices is the goal. the goal is beheading US shale. Lower demand helps.
Yes. Decrease demand. If you increase demand in the face of a supply glut, you get used to consuming more than you really need, and then they pull the plug by jacking up prices. If you decrease demand, national reserves can be stockpiled at rock-bottom prices. When they raise prices, we can say f--- you!
Fight back by draining demand amidst an ever growing supply glut?
Fight back. Ride a bike or walk whenever possible instead of driving. Wear a sweater instead of cranking up the heat. Get solar panels.
Remember when SM made a quip about how low gas prices were good for consumer america when he got interviewed by Maria Bartiromo? Oops. Maybe commodities crashing isn't good.
Welcome to 7 months ago, OP. Glad u caught up. Too bad the Saudis are screwing themselves. It's expensive to maintain a monarchy
