ROM positions involving domestic relocation

When 60% of positions are opened up, in theory you could apply for positions in BU in a different city. But then in practice, is there any chance of landing a position in a different location? Example: geologist in San Ramon applying to positions in Houston and vice versa.

If Chevron, your BU, or your department manager wants you gone... you're gone!

End of story.

Wlp, paying for your own relocation may not be an option, though it sounds like a clever idea. Chevron may not allow that.

I would think Expats heading back to the US would probably be able to move to any US location. Assumes it cost about the same to move them to Houston,Midland,or Bakersfield. In that regard expats would have an advantage over current US residents.

You can pay for your own relocation. If you are frugal, it won't cost that much. It would be a small price to pay to have a job.

The local janitorial positions are up for grabs. No PDC needed to post, just have inside track with CBRES. No relocation allowed.

Very, very few of the Alpha ROM positions were relo eligible. I heard that on average a relo costs the company $4-500,000 which seems to me to defeat the purpose of reducing spend. Even if what I heard is high and it is $250m for a relo, still seems to defeat a cost cutting strategy. Check the description carefully. Don't waste 1 of your 4 picks on a position you have no chance for.

You can bet that relocation expenses will be kept to an absolute bare minimum. Only stellar employees who are deemed a "must keep" will be relocated domestically if needed. Others will be laid off if there is no available open local job.

No relo expenses!!! If you want the job it's going to cost you to keep it:) and Plan on only being able to post for 4 positions MAX!

If you have strong three years performance and the incumbent is 2,2,2 there is a chance you could land the job and relocate. If the incumbent is strong, small chance.

Cash flow problems, no money for relo expenses

No, what it means that of the 100% of positions that are "approved" for the new org, 60% of those are being given to the Enterprise ROM. Incumbents etc can still post, but they are open to a larger candidate pool.

It will say in the job descriptions during the ROMs if relocation is covered. It likely will not be. This will help protect incumbents. Someone said previously that 40% of jobs will be gone. This is not correct necessarily. Only the 60% which are open are under question. The remaining 40% are closed positions deemed critical to the business and the employees in those will not be touched.

40% are business critical at this time and will be locked down with current employee

When I read that 60% of Chevron upstream positions are opening up in the March for the Spring PDC, what I interpret is that 40% of the remaining jobs (minus a handful) are going to be cut. Is anyone understanding it that way too? The fierce competition for posted jobs will be like trying to get a square peg into a round hole. Get your resumes and LinkedIn profiles updated.

Very unlikely they would want to relocate people.

there shouldn't be any difference with getting a job in a different location, except that the company will have to pay for your relocation expenses.
