...In my department. Monday is going to be lonely Hell and I don't know if I even want to stay. I wish I could trade places because I just don't want to the only one left. I just did not expect it to be this bad.

How did this become a support group to the lucky ones that still have a job?
Really posting thigs like: you are one of the "best" and the "bad" ones got layedoff. Be proud of yourself! (WTF!)
People that might have been as good or better than you got let go for MULTIPLE reasons (more salary, more age, more experience) that at the end was more expensive. People be realistic! Some percentage might have been low performers but do not generalize that all that left where the bad ones and all that stayed are he best- for all we know they just kept the lowest salaries around. If you are the lucky ones then work hard! Stop moaning and get back there and not just "find something to do" but actually be productive to the company otherwise you are just demonstrating that what they actually kept was the worst!
SWN just got rid of bad workers. If you were good they kept you.

I agree that those that kept their job should not have "survivor guilt". However, there are some survivors that should feel very guilty. And you know who you are too!
I've been that person that was left in place after everyone else in my department was laid off. It feels terrible! Those people were my friends and I ended up having to do my job and their jobs, too. You are left wondering who was the lucky one. I read a lot of articles online about "survivor's guilt" in layoffs and that helped. The job became so unbearable with all of the new demands, I ended up staying only a few more years. My laid off friends went on to much better jobs than they had lost, but had that fearful period of time while they were looking for those jobs.
After the dust settles on the personnel cuts, everyone will be reshuffled and reorganized. Don't beat yourself up over decisions that were completely out of your control. EVERYONE -- those who remain and those who were cut -- is struggling with a new normal. Make the best of whatever hand is dealt you. Best wishes to all.
Keep your head up. You did nothing wrong in not being cut loose. There are always key ppl left to keep the company going. The downturn will eventually end. If SWN goes into bankruptcy (like my company) the daily operations go on until reorg or liquidation.
Stay in your office and find something to do. Attitude is everything.
