This morning, the manager called each of us into his office with HR standing next to him. When we were all there (8 of us), he told us we were being let go due to the oil price and staying competitive, reducing capital, etc. He then flipped us the bird and said we were no better than rented mules before laughing hysterically. Lastly, he singled out the minorities in our group and told them they'd better high-tail it back to Timbuktu before their visas expire because he's calling the ICE on them. What a way to go...

I empathise with your feelings completely, one only has to look at the 'leadership' within the Eastern Hemispere HR arena to know how this kind of behaviour is allowed to flourish within BHI these days!
What rubbish. Any corporation would want to lay you off with the utmost care because of litigation. In the UK layoffs were carried out over a period of about three months. Meetings, discussions, and all done quite well as far as i could see. I had nearly 20 yrs service and took voluntary redundancy. The package was ok not great but i had another position to go too. It was a win win for me. I believe that leaving where i did with a sum of money (close to years salary) and another job to start after a 4 week vacation ! was the right thing to do when there were jobs to go into. Now is a different matter. There are tens of thousands of people who were laid of but no jobs for them. My advice is. "If you get notice for redundancy" find and take any job and ask for voluntary if you have a lot of years service. Don't wait until they march you out without a job !!!! Best of luck folks. I really mean that. Before i leave To all the racists out there on this site. " I hope there are law agencies in every country looking for you and bring charges against you" . There is no room for that in this society.
