does anyone here work in facilites ? I would be curious how many office building in SD are be closed. This might not tell us the actual number of layoffs they need to make but should be a good indication of the headcount they are targeting by the end of the quarter. Typically companies will make plans to vacate buildings many months in advance of actually closing them ..
If you work with thermos, ask them. Contracts are month to month on a one or two year plan. Ask your temps if they were told their max contract date was changed to mid march, mine were. Also there are walking dead with March GTFO dates, but I don't know how many.
At any rate, it's not the end of the layoffs and cuts.
I don't think they are going to deliver news like this at an AH meeting. The work atmosphere is so toxic people might actually riot. Besides, somewhere in their best practices, it says that someone from HR or a lead or both should have a face-to-face with the RIF-ees, individually.
2apj: If they are temps, they generally don't get laid off. A lot of PEO contracts are month-to-month.
Cool layoff rumor bro
There are people leaving in March from the last layoff, this isn't a new layoff, it's the last of the walking dead. As I understand it many of the temp techs are gone in March as well.
There will be more layoffs, but the amount depends on how the 820 does.
1fpz: It may not have been announced yet, but there IS going to be another layoff. The present ratio of employees to the amount of profits generated by licensing is simply unsustainable to make the stock desireable to S/Hs, regardless of the dividends offered. QCOM is trying to compete with companies that use cheaper foreign labor--which is foolhardy at this stage of the game, IMHO, as opposed to developing IP in other areas.
2nlk: Could be anywhere! Mostly, Silicon Valley and Seattle. Google took whole chunks of QCOM's departing employees in the last 2 waves. Personally, though, I would opt for something different than being thrown into more of the same at another company. Try for a position with a company that values your skill set and is doing interesting things, rather than just attempting to keep up with the Chans and Rajneeshes in manufacturing chips.
More engineers are leaving on their own than execs are anticipated. However, layoffs continues http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2016/jan/23/qualcomm-layoffs-san-diego-job-cuts/) Some departmemt has openings while others are letting go some good engineers. QC is a big mess right now, and not operating as a whole organization. SM, and DA need to be fired.
Where is the CA Warn notice Turkey?
Lol at " 95% confidential level". OP, you have no idea about statistics. Please go away.
I'd seriously doubt it if there will be mass layoffs in the next few months at least. It looks like upper management is having problems with attrition, as is evident in all the All Hands meetings
HR, please deflect and distract
At this point, it's probably carried over into April. They have to give 60 days advance notice.
