Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

2,400 positions in total for new CNAEP org chart.

The less layerd, and simple is better Org Chart that Watson is now calling it, has 2,400 positions. 960 are placed, the rest (1440) will be open to the remaining 6,540 employees. This may go down in number as BCG as of today, is running efficiency exercises to see any more layers or simplicity can be leveraged. Chevron first targeted 4,400 positions for org chart. This was in the fall. Pricing pressure and no new spending and coming to grips with not staffing 2 of the BU's got the number cut by 2,000.

Yes on get used to it. Chevron is actually out in front laying off and dumping assets. Their free cash flow is in the most danger. And this is survival mode!

Wow. Stunning numbers. OP, thanks. Wow.

I feel bad, because this is going to hurt.

Sorry, friends.

This is not CVX's first rodeo. They know the steps to take. You are now entering the final step. Massive layoff, asset sales, and reorg. Theme will be survival mode. Business 101 - cut deep, backfill with contractors if needed.

My sympathy goes out to those affected, but if you are new to the industry get use to it.

CBU new org charts out last week. About 25-35% of employee positions cut. Kitimat and D&C hit hard. Most expats heading back to home countries in April ESP. Contractor cuts will be "significant". Org size likely to go below 500 including employees and contractors. Was about 1000 this time last year.

Lol at Jeff. Everywhere he goes things are great. He flew from AMBU to SJVBU. His message at AMBU is minimal changes. Minimal changes??? There is no budget there and no planned work for 24 months. If Jeffy makes you feel better until you get whacked April 1 more power to you.

How is this number a surprise? We all got the email saying the majority of the 5000-6000 layoff will be at CNAEP. No specific numbers were given. This OP is specific and matches perfectly with the message. Are people in denial? Or no one has a clue of the head in CNAEP? So this is not outside of what leadership has said. It's spot on actually.

This is true! Chevron will centralize CNAEP under one management team. This has been posted here on other posts and is true. It makes sense ( staffing levels) when they are going to that buisness model. This also has been posted on here....read the transcripts for the quarterly earnings call from Friday. There will be many ah ha moments in Watsons words. Streamlining and simplified org structures as part of employee reductions, asset sales on block that are not core buisness, deep water and tight/unconventionals are core buisness. Now my issue iso that many people's boss and bosses boss are in scope. Vetting the right people is not being done openly, systematically. If you look behind the curtain it's not a Wizard placing people in the the org chart. It is BCG and a disconnected Chevron rescource. But make no mistake my fellow Chevron inmates. The numbers are true. The majority of us get early parole and get kicked out on the streets. Good luck and remember what goes up must come down and in the oil industry it ALWAYS goes back up. I am out after 44 years, retiring. This is by far the worse downturn and Chevron has changed beyond belief in the last decade.

Its the Internet, people can shotgun anything thing to get people talking. But for those interested in facts. At the SJVBU town hall last week Jeff was asked if the original announcement by Watson for lay offs was still accurate, he said yes. Though I'm sure someone will come in a say he's lying.

Don't you love on a thread when some newb entitled derp posts "Sources, please" or just "Source" or "Provide source"? It's as if they expect the person to jump and start rustling through files and folders to assemble and organize the source of information for whatever they posted, and as if that dipshit who requests that deserves or merits some sort of response in their own little feeble dipshit derp mind. I've got news for you, derps. You're very important. TO YOURSELVES. And it ends there. Sorry pal, grow up, grow a pair and get a clue and a life other than your little internet dream world.

The source is "Deep throat" !!! If the poster wanted to reveal it or a fake one(as usual) it would be in the OP. ROTFLMMFAOBOAY!!

Regardless of "waste", that large or a cut is going to be very disruptive the the organization. At the end of the day, though, that size of org seems about right but they key is going to be where the allocated available headcount.

There will be a lot of brand new BMW and corvettes for sale shortly. Besides boats, RV's and vacation homes. You wish you had saved those fat bonus checks for this rainy day!
