Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

HR Clueless

I have nothing but issues with the HR Service Center. Wrong paper work sent to me, different stories when you talk to them about Retire Medical versus COBRA and then to retire medical. It is outsourced to Xerox as that who's name is on my ACH draft. Had to call and ask why Xerox is drafting my bank account. Chevron could have at least sent out a letter to explain all this and how it all works. I was like : Xerox, I do not owe any money to Xerox.

Chevron has turned into ONE BIG SCREW UP after another. I am glad I moved on and found another job.

@1orq, I'm not the OP, but a 2015 retiree myself. The answer to your question is "yes". Once you get off subsidized Cobra after 6 months, you can switch to the Chevron Retiree Medical Plan, but only during Open Enrollment (in Oct). While you wait for your election to kick in on Jan 1, you can stay in Cobra Medical until Dec 31. Like you said, it's expensive. I'll tell you as well that Chevron Retiree Medical, even with the Chevron Contribution Percentage, is expensive too. It will probably be your best choice to go with Chevron Medical once you turn 65 years of age, since Medicare brings the premiums down a lot. Meanwhile, you will likely benefit by going on Obamacare. It is working out beautifully for me and my wife. I'm living on my Chevron Annuity and the monthly premium is under $60. Much better than Chevron Retiree premiums over $1000.

OP, is it true that if you are eligible for retiree coverage and laid off, you can get the subsidized cobra at employee rates for 6 months, then switch to the retiree medical, which is much more expensive ?

@1pct, about the CIP bonus... the corporate rate will be announced tomorrow, Feb 3. I'm sure by 12 noon (Houston time), it will be mentioned openly or have a thread of its own on this site. If you were an active employee for at least 1 quarter in 2015, you are entitled to receive a prorated share of the months you were employed at Chevron. As far as the fees you were charged after you were laid off, it's important to cancel all benefits you no longer want as soon as possible. Speak to the HRSC about all active fees and benefits you are still receiving. Good luck.

I'm getting the same bullshit. I've fought tooth and nail to obtain post-ROM pay statements. It's taken months. Then I learn they are still deducting fees for parking and gym membership! Good luck on getting reimbursed for this.

And I got the same reply that I can't ask for my W2 until Feb 12. According to the IRS, Chevron is legally required to mail my W2 by Jan 31 or within 30 days of my last paycheck. I'm also wondering about CIP. My understanding is that I am eligible for 2015, wonder what gyrations I will have to go through to learn about this, let alone obtain payment.

Speaking about the W2, I'm still wait for those broke dicks to send it to me. I called them yesterday morning, on Feb 1 to ask where it was. I was told all W2 forms were mailed out at the end of January, "as required by law" and I should wait until Feb 12 before calling them to send a copy if not received by then. What assholes. They can't find their ass with two hands.

Oh yes I went through this in the fall. Ithat took months. How can everything be so broken? You know it's bad when you are shocked to get a W2 form. I expected that to be screwed up.
