Probably more like 60% of the jobs in the profit center are required to be opened up for this ESP. Not 60% will be let go... With us if your job is opened up or your slot is "In Scope"...We will know if our slot will be opened up in Feb ...then in March we will get the chance to post of a list of jobs...get ready as there will be more people posting than jobs available. They are doing this for operational capability so they can keep the top notch hands (and bosses nephews) they need to continue the projects and other things after they rebound and get back to making profits... They may move somebody more qualified (or bosses grand boy) with more experience into my position so they can keep them...and get rid of me.
You can post for your current job and others in the list. I plan to shot gun out as many jobs as they will let me post for that I can fit myself into...As I understand your supervisor controls how many and what jobs you get to post for, so this may be a problem...if your supervisor is a dick...or you may have a limit of 1 or 2 jobs to post for.
They will let us know the results of this ESP posting April...results could mean you got a job you posted for...or you could be offered one somewhere else...or you could be left standing... If you are left standing...then you may get to get involved in the next ROM...if there is one or you may get a severance and go home...the severance may depend on the profit center you work for so it is not guaranteed...
Again as I understand it...If you get an job offer it should be at least your current pay grade or better.
It could be your current job...one close to where you live or one in bum fuk Egypt and they could expect you to move there or if you are lucky they might move you there. If you do not go to Bum fuk Egypt, or do not want to accept the job they offer you then you officially quit and there will be no severance.
I am looking at it this way...
I could get a better job somewhere else...with more money and opportunity or at least room to advance to the next pay grade - thumbs up on this one...
I could get my old job back...and be stuck in this pay grade till I die or retire...
I could be left standing...and hopefully get a severance
I could get a offer to bum fuk Egypt...or bum fuk Texas (if there is a such place) and be expected to move myself there for a 9-80 slot, or they may move me...I am probably gonna have to take it for a while anyway. I live no where near bum fuk Eqypt or Texas...
Also I see in the FAQ that they will have voluntary layoffs...lots of folks I have worked with in the past have the years and the time to retire...maybe they wanted to retire at the end of 2016 or 2017..but if they retire now...they could get the severance and retire, they may get more than they wanted with this option...But I understand they are going to control who can take this option of voluntary layoff/severance. If I had the time and years, I would beg for this voluntary layoff and take the severance and go now... Just extra money in your pocket for what you were gonna do anyway in a year or so...
Relax...there is nothing we can do but make the best of this...hold on and take your blood pressure and heart burn meds...till this all shakes out in a few months...
If you make it...let this be a lesson to you...save your money, as this may not be the last time you see this with CVX...
