Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Is COED (customer order entry and dispatch) still around?

I worked in COED in Concord , CA from about 99 to 2006. During that time a great department that actually did a lot of work(dispatching the fuel trucks, scheduling gas deliveries) was destroyed by an outside company that was hired to create a "one touch" no human interaction dispatch. Needless to say, it was a miserable failure, mainly because the dept. manager had no idea what her dept actually did.

I laugh at some of the posts here, it brought back all the retarded Chevroid policies and flavors of the month. I left Chevron for greener pastures, and still remember it as one of the strangest places I ever worked. Oh, and I was routinely criticized for being too blunt, not interested in diversity, blah blah. Do you guys still do those ridiculous stretch breaks?

Good luck all , there is life after the chevron drone world.

OP - My wife and I both started our careers with Chevron, in the Concord accounting "prarie dog village" (it was always humorous, to watch people stick their heads up, above the cubicle partitions, look, furtively, around,... then, Zoop! Simply disappear!). I can not imagine that Concord was any stranger, during your stay, than it was in those days, post-Gulf merger. Managers were never seen without their suit coats on, and if greeted, while passing in the hall, chances were 99% certain that you wouldn't even be recognized. Still,... it was good, for us, and we still laugh about those times. As to your observations regarding stretch breaks,... I left before THAT nonsense became vogue, but did get to experience the full Safety Awareness sheep-dip exercise. If it hadn't been for the Dilbert comic strip, I probably would have lost my mind. Yes,... it was strange. But, at that particular time in our lives, it afforded some shelter from the storm. "Bon chance" to you, sir.

No. It's all been outsourced and automated so that we don't need to to pay salary and pension liabilities to dead wood.
