I've read the post below already by the person @FY0R2bv-uqk who obviously fantasizes about being sodomized by a large man. Never heard of that sort of thing from a normal straight person. Isn't it just people getting laid off?

Well, if the term refers to Employees that Chevron would be better off without, the posters below on this thread are the definition of deadwood.

It's an HBO Series or what you see walking the halls of COV100 on any given day.

The term "Deadwood" originated many years ago in logging camps. A frisky logger would call out "Deadwood" then go back into his tent, Another logger of the same persuasion would then enter the frisky loggers tent and proceed to sodomize him with an axe handle.

TL;DR when someone says "Deadwood" it means the want to be sodomized...badly

How about all the people not in this layoff who are truly deadwood? Chevron has again displayed favoritism in its selections of people and not truly positions. Lots of people who are held up on crutches by people who are now being in this ridiculous musical chair game for their jobs for just being good decent people who did not get visibility thanks to loser bosses

Dead wood?

A derogatory term dispensed by those who truly believe they are superior and smugly look down on those who are now looking for alternative gainful employment.

As many will know not all folks who are being shed are poor and not all those left are good.

So....how about folks display a modicum of humanity and desist from insulting others. How many folks doing this would truly chose to do this face-to-face and deal with the consequences.

Some of the behaviours displayed are sadly not radically different than neighbours and sometimes friends turning on each other on the M.East, Balkans, N.Africa, etc, etc. Not nice.

Apparently the dead wood in a company are the personnel who need to be cut, like pruning a tree. And any mention of dead wood on this forum, evidently brings out the dead wood trolling on this website who complain that either they are being victimized, or they hurl petty, adolescent insults at the person who posted. Like clockwork. For instance, the anonymous coward foul-mouthed pervert @FY0R2bv-upg below is an example of a piece of dead rotten wood that needs to be cut and never should have been hired by CVX. The professionals will stay and the immature dead wood will be severed, leaving a healthy tree to thrive. That's why this round of cuts is badly needed and has been for a while, even before oil prices dropped.

We joke and tease about this, but many of Chevron employees are collecting a paycheck.....with the skill set dulled by working for a dysfunctional company and being pigeon holed, it will be extremely hard to get employment in today's job market. Deadwood adds no vslue, in fact detracts value. When the thousands of layed off employees start to look for a job it will become evident to the vast majority they have no clue on how to not be on Corporate Welfare. As much as I believe in personal responsibility, I have to put the majority of the cause of this on Chevrons culture of processes, politics and servitude vs. Results.

Dead Wood refers to a poster who hides from the people he attacks on message boards . The repeated 'dead wood' statement refers to both the end of his position with Chevron sometime last year as well as the functionality of his genitals.
