Only job I've been elated to leave. The politics is toxic. All managers and STEM people should work at least a year in an environment like Qualcomm, so they learn how NOT to run a company. The most successful tech companies in Silicon Valley have placed a priority on genius. While Qualcomm may have had its entrepreneurial moments and cutting edge developments, they were years ago--which is a lifetime, given the pace of technical progress. Irwin was a politician. The only reason he didn't run for office was because he was a control freak, and it would be a conflict of interest to also run the company that was a major player in this pond where he parks his lilly pad. So Fletcher was his "poliical beard." Irwin ran the company like a political fiefdom, with enough in-house lawyers to rival a Washington, D.C. think tank. And now that the sh*t is hitting the fan, it's imploding like any bad legislation. All that's left is for people at the top to grab their "goodies" and announce that they're leavinng "to spend more time with their families."

Being in "management" and no longer having to do anything real in order to get RSU's and promoted.
