Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

CVX Stock Ended 2015 Down 19.5%.

Our Chevron stock on Dec 31, 2014 was $111.65 and ended today, Dec 31, 2015 at a measly $89.96. That's a difference of -$21.69 or down by 19.5%. Terrible!

Yes, CVX lost $0.89 on Friday. Fourth day down for CVX. Oil lost 10% just this week. Where is the bottom? Experts think we have further down to go.

Looks like CVX is going for a fourth day in a row. Down she goes again.

After these last 3 days, seems like CVX is starting the 2016 year to go lower than the 19.5% dive it made in 2015. I'm glad I no longer hold CVX in my 401k. Not for a good while. But I'll be back once CVX hits $69 a share again soon.

What concept are you referring to, 6kbg? Us employees should not expect a bonus when it's part of our overall compensation? Look at our Executives in San Ramon... They guarantee themselves huge bonuses every year, even this year when our stock lost 19.5%. Are you a moron or John Watson, himself.

Anyone who "depends" on their bonus, is a complete moron. Quit living above your means, to impress the neighbors. Bonus, by definition, is something extra that should not be expected. Hard to believe we have financially ignorant CVX staff out there, who don't understand this simple concept.

I told you CVX was still overvalued. Traded some out at 92.70 for RDSB at 44.80...winning so far.

Are you implying the drop in oil prices had no impact on the stock?

They have given us a bonus for as long as I have been with the company!!! A long damn time...they will continue as long as they can...really, do you think it is Management's wish to fail? They make the decisions to grow the company and I am sure they want us all to grow and prosper. It sucks for all employees when the decisions made aren't the best...but I am sure that was not their plan to fail..it just doesn't always work out as planned..I know, it sucks...but...remember you chose to stay or go...

I think @1yre makes a strong point. All of us will get a bonus of some kind because upper management would throw a fit if nothing is awarded. It's all about the money, especially for them.

CVX still looks expensive next to XOM and RDSB

I don't think CIP will be zero. Why? Because it would hurt upper management a lot more than it would hurt the rank and file.

I never depend on a bonus. That's why it goes straight to savings when I get it. But, while I don't depend on on a bonus, di not confuse that with meaning I don't expect one. Bonuses are a part of your total compensation package at Chevron and many Fortune 500 companies. The bonus is variable, but IS EXPECTED.

We should be at 69.58 or lower. There has been no changes since our low this year to even support our current $89 evaluation. Just be glade we are up from our low or even more heads would be getting chopped.

You should never "depend" on a bonus. That's why it's called bonus. I haven't worked at chevron that long and the firms I worked for in the past would not always pay a bonus if profits were down. We never had the expectation of getting anything, and if we did, it would be a pleasant surprise. A few months ago there was lots of talk on here about 401k match being cut, but I've not heard anything about it anywhere else. Maybe they decided to cut the bonus and leave the 401k match? Economically better for them I'm sure.

I sure hope the corporation throws us a bone and does payout a bonus. We'll find out on Feb 4th (expected date) when Watson shows up for the next Worldwide Employee Teleconference. For those who were laid off, they will get a prorated share as well. Keep your fingers crossed. I think the chances are 50/50. Not holding my breath.

Ive heard nothing of CIP bonus's being discontinued. Not saying it wont happen, but seems like we would have heard of this earlier in the year. People depend on there bonus's. Has anyone heard anything on this?
