CVX got kicked in the gonads hard for 3 days in a row. Any bets it will happen again tomorrow? Oil is heading towards the upper 20s very soon.

It's true that past performance is no indication of future performance. That's the standard disclosure to investing anywhere. In other words, don't chase performance or try to time the market. I feel it's possible oil may hit the high $20s briefly, but will rebound into the low to mid $30s right after. So if you invested money in oil futures at today's price of $34.20, I'd say you can't go wrong. It may go lower by $5, but will most likely go back up $15 by the end of the 3rd quarter of this year. Good luck.

2bdn.

Past performance is no indication of future performance.

That goes for the ecstatic fools buying company stock in June 2014 and the pessimistic fools (or geniuses?) selling it today.

I can't tell you it won't go to $20/bbl, but I can tell you that I bet my own money it won't.

US oil sheds 5.56% today, posting its worst settle price since Dec. 2008. Brent also took the same tact down today. Hold on, looks that $20+ per barrel price is coming soon.

Gasoline is cheap right now, which is a positive thing for all consumers. Not good, though, for people with jobs in the energy sector.

Oil is going down because Saudis are stepping up the price war now to hurt Iran. They want to protect their market share in Europe particularly to where Iran will start shipping once sanctions are lifted.

Also, the API inventory numbers were wrong. General consensus was a build.

Oil is down to 34, not 20.

Despite the Saudi-Iran tensions currently taking place, oil is down again today to $34. Even though US oil inventories fell 5.1 million barrels, oil is down markedly today. Even CVX stock is down quite a lot.

I posted one of the sarcastic posts below. However, there is a chance at sub $30 oil; and it involves storage reaching full capacity and many wells producing at a loss (with respect to OPEX, neglecting CAPEX).

It is unlikely in most opinions including Goldman Sachs executives who were second big voice behind it (I think their official target is $43 for 2016-one of the lower ones). First big voice was JPMorganChase who had recently said $150 before they said $20-so credibility shot for them.

For the poster below. It is not news; it is a forecast from an unreliable source. It didn't happen. General consensus is that it won't happen (although it is possible). You may say that no one say sub 40 oil coming. I respond to that that I did when oil was in the $80's. The sub $50 oil shouldn't last either-(It's been sub 50 for less than 3 months (using Brent)).

So there is no reason to fear $20 oil; $30 is scary enough as it is. Even if prices do plummet to $20.00 per barrel, that only means a swifter recovery to the $50-60 range.

No $100 oil anytime soon, as much as you'd wish it to happen. Oil moved up slightly today to $37.06 ($37.53 Brent). This Saudi-Iran crisis won't push oil past $40, before the incident cools down. When it does, oil goes down to $33.00, then lower. High 20's is very possible.
