Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Missed out

I wanted to volunteer to get laid off in October but I was pretty sure it would have been denied. Nobody in our group got laid off. I had another job that paid almost what I get now. It would have been a nice bonus if it would have worked out.

Just mention all over the office everyday that you would like your supervisor's job. Start taking management training courses and make your wishes known that you want to change your career path from technical to management. It won't be long before you get get your notice and are laid off.

I think you'll get another opportunity.

The problem with volunteering and getting denied is then you have that mark on your back. Pretty sure it would have come back to haunt me. Believe me, I am putting a few bucks into the powerball, then I will just not show up to work anymore

You can only be denied if you volunteer. You can only get another job if you first quite the current job. Wouldn't it be interesting if you were laid off without enhanced severance and could not find another job?

Go buy a few powerball tickets. You seem to be on a good run.
