Thread regarding Sears layoffs

No team work

It used to be enjoyable to come to work. Not anymore. There is no team work. The managers all sit in the hub doing nothing. The mcas do nothing. Cashiers are lazy. Moral is gone, workers do not care anymore. Customers angry all the time. Gotta love it.

Of course management is a joke. If you pay attention to what has come into your stores the last year and a half, you would realize that they are all cheap labor! They don't know anything, can't do anything and won't help you because they don't know. But they are being paid very little money compared to the old timers that knew what they were doing and were fired because they were no longer able to support their salaries. Even the DM's are rookies that don't know what they're doing. Untrained new hires from floor to management, cheap and ineffective is the name of the game. Lampert knows what he's doing and it's going to plan. We're just here because we have no other place to go.

That sounds about right. I basically worked the entire holiday/Christmas season in layaway by myself. The lines were crazy, especially with all of this "No Money Down" promotion that was going on. A few associates helped, but were called away to do pointless projects every time. I don't understand because layaway is what is keeping Kmart afloat & it differentiates them from other retailers. You would think that they would want enough employees back there to get the job done. No...not Kmart. They want you to overwork & be frustrated. The managers at my store are a joke. We have this one manager who is more concerned with smoking cigarettes than running the store. During the holidays, all she did was smoke, watch us from Security on camera, & sit in the offices. The rewards program is a joke. You can only spend your "Surprise Point" on items not within the exclusion section. Darn near every department is named in this section. How can you try to get a customer base off of SYWR, but yet it causes more complaints & frustrated customers over point usage? They hire new employees & don't train them at all. I have never seen any business be ran like this. Kmart isn't going to make it.

Same here. I got called into the office for not getting enough credit card and SYW sign-ups, so for the next week I asked everyone that came to my register and was tops in the store..... but a customer complained (gave a negative feedback) that they were asked by another associate and myself to sign up for SYW so I was called into the office for asking too many questions. You can't win either way so why should I care.

If i didn't have three kids to support I would be out of here. I think they know this so they can treat you how ever they want

Our manager is great. It is corporate that is the problem. The DM wants all this work done, metrics met yet also cut cost, cut hours, cut employees etc. And the mangers have to get it done. Stuff runs down-hill so it is the people in Hoffman Estates who are the problem. The store managers are at the bottom of the hill and they are just trying to keep their jobs.

This company has no idea how to get people motivated or get people on the same page. Only threats of job loss to get you to work without pay or work off the clock. I had my raise taken away (that i had for two years) due to minimum wage increasing. Told that I had to give it back to keep my job.

There are so many labor violations that if employees filed suit the company would fold in a week. Any labor lawyers out there?

Sounds just like the store I work at...the manager appears to not know or care about numerous "big" problems in our store...the place is a joke...no one acts like they care, just there to collect a paycheck, if that's what you want to call it...they expect workers to go above and beyond, but only pay minimum wage...

Some problem at my store. Many of our managers don't have the qualifications in be in their current positions. They should be fired.

Sounds like our store. Corporate was at our store. I think they got an ear full about bad attitudes and laziness. We even have bad management
