Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

It Sucks for all Associates Who Are Losing Jobs

It will be interesting to see which locations are scheduled to close in 2016. My guess would be that many of the locations are in shopping centers that have two Macy's stores. There really is no reason to have two large Macy's stores (many over 150,000 square feet) in the same shopping center. Macy's has continued to operate those stores so that they could keep competing department store from moving in on their "turf". It's unfortunate for the all the associates that will lose their jobs. Hopefully Macy's will do right by them with a generous severance package.

If you're not a minority you may get a good package..Also some associates make decent money if their managers like them, if you're not liked by them than you can forget it because they will never give you ANY increases even though you do the same exact work as your peers. Some associates who have been there for years are on the brink of homelessness and some associates are actually homeless..Macy's does not pay associates a living wage and the benefits for associates are terrible!!!! They want associates to put on this happy face yet and still we have no money to keep a roofs over our heads. They have too many managers. All chiefs and no indians!! Get rid of some of those people on the top making the money even if our business is slow.. They still get the big bucks regardless. It's a total shame!!!!
