Boom and bust are the nature of the business. SWN has been fortunate to have been "booming" for as long as it has, but the realities of a commodity business can be brutal, so retraction is inevitable until such time as prices recover. SWN's situation is compounded by its reliance on a single commodity (unconventional gas) with no vertical integration beyond the wellhead. I've been through three or four of these cycles during my career, and each was painful on the downside. Your best tack is to do your job as best as you are able, and always be "looking out" for other opportunities, regardless of "boom" or "bust".
