“should not manage 10 or more people without management training”... some of the biggest bozos I know have an MBA. I would prefer someone with extensive practical tech experience on my team any day! LOL!
I have never heard that before however your bonus I thought was based on a formula. Anyone can share their own salary and bonus information. They can NOT share other employees information.
Jealous runts! That guy you refer to is one of Chevron's stars. His group is one of the hardest working in the company. It's easy to bitch.
Investors, note that the high school-educated "manager" at Chevron with 12 direct reports makes $220,000 a year. What's in your stock portfolio?
You see, a high school educated yard boy makes $200,000 a year at Chevron and manages 12 people.
Investors, this guy is not a brilliant drilling manager, he is low level grunt pulling down big bucks.
How about telling us how you judge performance of your 12 reports? How much they kiss your ass? How much they kick back to you for vendor selection?
Those CO ranges are old

how much does a PSG 25 make? 150k base?
Oh brother, you've got to be a troll. I have my job and 12 direct reports who respect me because I'm qualified. Of course I've had Chevron management training. Many times I feel like I want to scream out loud with all the training (mostly legal stuff) this company puts all supervisors and managers through too often. Believe me when I tell you I've earned my wings. Yes, from roustabout twenty-eight years ago to PSG 25 today. I'm still here.
You should be rewarded for your technical expertise, but you should not manage 10 or more people without management training.
@1mfv, you are wise in your first point - sell your stock after the next major uptick, but not at all correct about your last statement. I agree we have many undeserving supervisors and managers in their current roles, but your assertion that someone like myself with a high school education (and 28 years of technical on the job experience) is an uneducated manager and a symptom of our current ills. You are very shallow in thinking that. I moved up through the ranks by my own boot straps and hard work. I can also rattle off many names of people in the US and around the world who have created the largest breakthroughs in technology who did not have a college education, less a degree. If you disagree with me on this point, it would be more telling of your kind of thinking that is really the problem we see at Chevron today.
The next uptick that CVX has, I'm selling. Reading this blog has been very valuable. The lazy, uneducated manager with a high school diploma, a 25 PSG and direct reports is a snapshot of the quality of management.
1bqi - I don't have a problem with someone earning more than me. Everyone has a boss who earns more. I may have problems with others knowing I earn more than them. I'm not sure where you get the notion that only college graduates should or do earn more than others without a degree. I have only a high school education but I'm a PSG 25. I have 12 direct reports under me. That's right. I hope you understand a formal education is a great thing to have, but it doesn't always guarantee success or superiority.
If you have a problem with someone earning more than you why don't you just get an education? And stop worrying about what other people make. It's one thing that you blue collar types get on my nerves about. You think you should be making as much or more than the educated employees (like myself). There is a reason why it is called higher education...
I write down a figure of how much I received as a bonus and tape it up inside the bathroom stalls on my floor. I don't identify my name to the note, not because im afraid they will fire me (they won't), but because many of my colleagues would be surprised I earn more than them. They may stop being my buddies.
The CIP target percentages for each pay grade are clearly stated on the CIP website.
OP, First of all... There's no need to type in all Capital letters. It is childish and rude. Are you screaming your question to us? Ok, Second... If you have to ask this question, it tells us you are not a Chevron employee. So, Third of all... Why ask the question and why should I answer this silly question?
