Governor Kicks off New Year by Honoring Leaders in Science and Tech

Susan Opp, executive vice president of L-3 Communications Systems West. Over the course of her tenure with L-3, Ms. Opp created a strategic vision and implementation plan that doubled the company’s business and increased L-3’s workforce by more than 2,000 people in six years.

They should have used a better description than "increased L-3's workforce". I like Susan and wish her well. But this seems a bit ironic.

Get a grip to those negative posts. It easy to judge others when you bury your head and reap all the benefits. Such as; tuition reimbursement, insurance coverage and above average pay. Instead of spending your time posting vile and negative remarks, start going above and beyond to make a difference instead of packing up at 3:30 to catch your van pool at 4:00! Let's see what you can do? Don't like working at L-3, then leave and go to work at minimum wage for the church.

Get your facts straight. Val inherited Susan's mess. Susan dumped it all on Val. She owns as much of the layoff(s) as anyone. Now go back to your CADRE meeting....

Get your facts straight. All of the layoffs occurred after she was removed and most under Val's devastating tenure.

@FsQNIKm-5ilj - I was wondering how long it would take until the true believers started praising "Dear Leader", and fawning over her statues and legacy. I know that Utah is a place that loves to call 19th century magicians and philanderers "prophets", but your ignorance is surprising, even if it is from a "sister wife" who has been living in an underground bunker for the past ten years. Allow me to illuminate your thinking: Susan presided over no less than 4 major layoffs at CSW, not to mention the mini-layoffs that occurred in between. She presided over the largest voluntary exodus of talent since Moses and his people crossed the Red Sea (I thought you would appreciate this reference). Suppliers, customers, and government babysitters have all lost faith in CSW (and L-3 as a whole). Please don't "drink the kool-aid". The end isn't "nigh", and Susan isn't leading you to the promise land. Time to divorce your polygamist husband, and come back to reality.

Congratulations! At least someone recognizes the success CSW had under Susan even if the idiots in New York don't get it. Amazing that she gets recognized by our Governor while being punished and mistreated by them. Beyond belief.

Other than Steve Hall, no one loved to pat Susan on the back more than Susan. I'm sure she cooked these statistics to fit perfectly with the college drop-out's (Governor's) idea of success. The reality is: she presided over the worst drop in operational efficiency in CSW history. She hired imbeciles to integrate a new ERP system, and they bailed as soon as they could. She tolerated mediocrity in her senior mgt. ranks and that mediocrity led to million dollar losses in one business area, in particular. She approved of the company's very own "Hitler Youth" (AKA Cadre), and she encouraged a form of nepotism (husbands, brothers of husbands, etc.) that permeates and continues to this day. Yeah, Susan. Job well done!

I read the article. It says, "over the course of her tenure" employment increased by 2000. I guess that means that at the high point it was 2000 more than at the low point. Never mind that the low point came after the high point.
