The buy out will succeed I need my 55 million dollar bonus. Plus last week I was given 249,000 shares of BHI stock, so more money in my pocket.

Buddy, Canada has the highest revenue for many product lines within BHI, and much higher field margin to boot. Better vacation policy and they higher new employees with 3 weeks vacation vs the standard two weeks in the USA. Why does BHI have the higher market share in Canada vs the USA?

Now to criticize an individual because they may have an MBA is also wrong. Look at the individual before you look at their education. If the MBA is utilized positively within an organization, no worries. If they anticipate a major promotion because they graduated from a school, fine, but earn your stripes in the company too. I have worked with various levels of education throughout this company. I don't care if they have high school or a Phd. in Materials design and a MBA from Purdue....if you can deliver the baby, then your gold.

There are plenty of MBAs at Baker Hughes. I could name maybe 20 off the top of my head.

MBA has nothing to do with innovation or Schlumberger beating us. The technical employees at Schlumberger typically come from better institutions than those of HAL or BHI. MIT vs State College, if you will.

However, the main reason Schlumberger is more innovative is that they spend MUCH more on research and product development than Baker. The BHI business model seems to be buy a company they no nothing about, and then run it poorly. They try to grow things organically instead of investing Capex. That is why SLB is ahead, not because they have more useless (my opinion) MBAs.

To anyone who bashes the MBA leadership, needs to look at Canada business culture and why it fails. Canadian industry relies on a cheap dollar rather than innovating, this is why Canada has a terrible productivity record compared to the US. Canadians work more hours and make substantially less than Americans in similar industries. This crisis is something successive federal governments try to address to its business leaders.

Canadian Industry promotes average joes through the ranks and has community college diplomas running most of their failing industries.

Schlum which is the MBA Capital of the big three, is also beating the other Hal and BHI badly. Coincidence?

True many people with MBAs may also suck, but a top MBA manager beats community college manager hands down.

I agree that mid management needs to reduced in size by a substantial number, but quit the hate on for people who achieved something.

MBAs will not work for BHI, because most of the managers in BHI won't value a MBA degree and they don't even understand the competitive advantage having MBAs in the company.

It's going to be interesting, to say the least. The deal is looking less likely with each passing month. EU's latest announcement is both ominous and foreboding,... by the time they DO "review" it, the customer pool will have shrunk, dramatically, which only exacerbates the issue of "competition". Competition will be BRUTAL, since there will simply be less business to go around! In that kind of environment, seems doubtful that any regulatory agency will authorize a merger designed to increase the competitive edge of ONE entity at the expense of all the (few) others. Only upside is that Baker inherits $3.5B. That can't hurt (Baker,... Hal's an entirely different story,... idiots). Where's GE in all of this? I wonder.

If the merger does not go through, there will be no more Baker Hughes. Who is left to take care of the business. The Directors and BP's can not run tools. That is if there are any to be run.

Will HR run the company now?

The only employees to remain after the next round of cuts will be the 'socially engineered' and the 'high pots'. The company will soar to new heights.
